About PREPARE
PREPARE bridges the gap between kindergarten and school for children with additional needs heading into a mainstream educational setting for Prep. Our highly trained Early Childhood Teachers, alongside Allied Health Professionals, lead this program.
Prepare is aligned with real classroom
expectations that encourages students to grow communication skills, manage emotional regulation, increase independence, enjoy social connection, and classroom participation. Each student receives a personalised plan with clear goals, shaped with input from families, kinders, and other professionals. Our track record speaks for itself. In the 10+ years Prepare has been running, over 100 students have successfully transitioned into mainstream school, and most importantly love attending school!
WHY PREPARE WORKS
Every child learns differently — and that’s exactly how PREPARE is designed. We take time to understand your child’s strengths, interests and the way they learn best, then build their goals into a personalised plan. That means the experiences we create feel motivating, achievable and genuinely relevant for your child (not a one-size-fits-all program).
PREPARE is grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework, so it’s play-based, supportive and developmentally appropriate — while also gently introducing the rhythm of a real school day. Children practise key routines like group time, following instructions, transitions and independence, so starting school feels more familiar and less overwhelming.
“Is this therapy centre going to communicate clearly with me about my child’s progress?”
The Prepare Program is founded on the philosophy of family-centred practice, recognizing that family involvement is essential to each child’s success. We encourage parents to play an active role in the program and in setting goals for their child. Our team works closely with families to understand their expectations and identify both short-term and long-term goals, which then form the basis of each child’s individualized educational plan.
Our specialized teaching and therapy team collaborates with families throughout the program to plan, implement, and evaluate these goals.
Our mission is to provide children with additional support needs the opportunity to learn at their own pace in a caring, supportive environment. We create individualized learning goals in partnership with families and relevant specialists, helping children develop essential skills for a successful transition to school. At CHATS, we are committed to treating every family with respect and valuing their unique needs, including cultural background, language, socio-economic circumstances, values, and priorities.
